Mission Statement

  • "To raise awareness about people with disabilities in the community through education."
  • DAHRT is a 501(c)(3) group that educates and advocates for the rights of the disabled, with special focus on children, young adults, and seniors with disabilities.
  • The founder and chair is Joanne Lawrence, lifetime survivor of polio. She had been pushed around once too often and decided to fight back by educating about the ADA (American Disabilities Act) requirements and getting ADA compliance where needed. Failing that, picketing is always an option.
  • DAHRT is supported by donations, grants, and dues from those who believe in DAHRT's cause.
